      Charity GADPA Pistol Clinic

      100% of proceeds fund children's Christmas 2019 gifts and critical supplies for elderly. All services and supplies for the clinic are supplied by GADPA volunteers. This charity is on behalf of the Salvation Army. Tax receipts will be provided. WHERE AND WHEN:Bay #4 South River Gun Club 08:00am check in. Safety and medical briefing 08:30am. First shots 09:00. End time approx 4-5pm. AGENDA:This training event will utilize a variety of standards and scenario stages to demonstrate and coach both new and experienced competitive pistol shooters. The goal is to learn how a master shooter builds and executes a stage plan for scenario and standards stages. A wide range of skills will include, shooting on the move, moving targets, exiting and entering shooting positions, target transitions, shooting with cadence and rhythm, mastering fundamentals. Eliminating wasteful movements and becoming a more efficient shooter. Proper use of cover and concealment. TIPS:Although scoring and other aspects will be covered and handled by the instructor or safety officers we recommend a quick read of the rule book on the GADPA.com website prior to attending. The primary concern for this clinic will be safe gun handling. REQUIREMENTS:Rock solid safe gun handling skills that include muzzle and finger discipline and the ability to work in and out of the holster. Unsafe gun handling will not be tolerated. In order to focus on fundamentals and observation all concealment garments are optional. You will need a reliable, cleaned and properly maintained semi-auto pistol of compact or larger size and 9mm or larger caliber. This must include a properly fitting non collapsing holster with a sturdy belt designed for gun carry. You will need at least 3 good magazines with 2 or more belt pouches. Nylon, canvas, stretchy or Serpa holsters will not be allowed. Covered shoes, brimmed cap and closed top shirt please. Ear protection that allows you to hear the instructor will be highly recommended. We recommend 300 rounds of quality range ammunition. Bring water, snacks, packed lunch, required medicines or inhalers, insect spray, sun screen. We must know about any major medical issues. You must be in good physical condition. ARRIVING PARKING The club gate should be open or there will be someone present to allow entry. You'll bypass the sign-in kioske and log clubhouse then proceed just beyond the bullseye range on the left. You may park in the upper gravel parking area and walk down the curved hill to Bay #4 which across from the scoring trailer. With GADPA setting up a match the parking will be very limited around the bays. CHECK INWe will begin checking in at 08:00am bay #4 and finish by 08:30. If you miss the safety briefing that begins at 08:30 you will not be allowed to shoot. Tuition Fee Donation = 95$INSTRUCTOR BACKGROUND:Doug Jones is a GADPA Tier 1 competitive shooter, 4 division IDPA master, Rangemaster Certified Advanced Pistol Instructor, NRA Pistol Instructor, Match Director, Safety and Range Officer. Owner of Georgia Shooters Group professional training organization. TACTS master graduate.
