      EVENT DETAILS
Sunday Buddhist Program-Cultivating a Wise and Compassionate World

We invite you to join our Sunday Program, where like minded people gather to nurture deeper connection and meaning. This regular Sunday program will be led by Venerable Geshe Sonam and includes meditations for developing awareness and compassion, reciting Buddhist mantra, and the rare opportunity to learn from a highly trained and experienced Buddhist monk. Questions are encouraged, helping us explore how Buddhist ideas apply to everyday life. We complete the gathering with a time for conversation over tea. One does not need to become a Buddhist to attend. His Holiness Dalai Lama states, “Don’t try to use what you learn from Buddhism to be a Buddhist; use it to be a better whatever-you-already–are”    Venerable Geshe Sonam Ngodrup We are delighted to welcome Geshe Sonam Ngodrup to back to Canada and to Lama Yeshe Ling! We are so fortunate that he will be volunteering to be our teacher and offer spiritual guidance. Geshe Ngodrup is very well loved by his students and is known for being a warm, patient and approachable teacher. Geshe-la is an inspiring example of how to bring the Dharma into practice. Venerable Geshe Sonam Ngodrup was born in Kardze, Kham in 1968 and left Tibet when he was 13 years old. He graduated as a Lharampa Geshe (the equivalency of a Doctorate degree ) with distinction from Sera Je monastery, in the South of India. He passed his geshe exams as one of the best three geshes from Sera, Drepung and Ganden monastery combined. Following this, he studied tantric philosophy and ritual in Gyume Tantric College. (He became one of the most popular young teachers in Sera Jey Monestary) maybe remove this part?), were he taught for over 12 years.Geshe Ngodup last taught at the Maitraiya Institute in the Netherlands where he has been a resident teacher for six years. Previously, he has taught at Nalanda Monastery France, and was a visiting teacher at various FPMT centres in Europe and here at Lama Yeshe Ling.
