Astronomical Society of the Desert Guest Speaker Meeting

Dennis Mammana is author of six books on astronomy and the “Stargazer” nationally syndicated newspaper column. He has held planetarium positions at the Smithsonian Institute and San Diego’s Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. The topic will be "From Darkness Comes Light.” It’s been said that 99 percent of all we know of the universe comes to us in the form of light, but there is much we discover not from light, but rather from the absence of light. Tonight we’ll explore how darkness itself can shed light on the cosmos. This will be held at the Portola Community Center, 45-480 Portola Ave., Palm Desert, 92260. Doors open at 6:30 pm for refreshments and the talk begins at 7:00 pm. This event is FREE and open to the public.
