Rising Above: a Women's History Talk with DL Havlin at Sandman Books

Learn about Jacqueline Cochran, heroine of aviation history, and her amazing life in Florida s sky.

      About this Event

This panhandle girl rose from obscurity to be a giant in aviation and in business. Though she never received the publicity that Amelia Earhart is accorded, she accomplished much, much more, in a life filled with triumph and heartbreak. She was instrumental in forming the WAAC (Women's Auxiliary Army Corps), the WASP (Women's Airforce Service Pilots), was an acclaimed test pilot, was the first female pilot to break the sound barrier, and was the driving force in forming the first women's astronaut group. At one point Ms. Cochran held every women's aviation record at once! Learn more about this amazing heroine at Sandman's next History Talk, featuring local author and historian DL Havlin.

This event is free, but RSVP is required.
